The Dennis Dominator was designed for economical operation, to lower fuel and maintenance costs, and to give a smooth, safe ride. All this, plus the versatility of specification and the general strength and reliability normally associated with Dennis products maked this a bus chassis unique in its class.

The custom built chassis incorporated the Voith automatic transmission with built-in hydraulic retarder, which was not only safer but resulted in signifiant savings in brake wear - the hydraulic retarder was wear-free and its use gave considerable savings on maintenance costs.

The Dominator Chassis was suitable for either double or single deck bodywork with interchangeable major running units. A dropped centre axle allowed low or normal height bodywork which enabled an operator to standardise on one basic chassis design for their entire fleet. Years of Dennis experience went into the design of the chassis, which provided durability, long life and an excellent base for all types of bodywork.

The Dominator was ideal for one man operation and was suitable for rural, city or inter-city work. Simple push button controls for engagement of automatic transmission and many other modern features gave a high standard of operating efficiency.
