"D22 Gearbox Removal Part 1" |
|
| |
So with a day off work, and an early start today - we thought it would be straight forward to remove gearbox from D22, remove gearbox from D23 and transplant D22's gearbox into D23.
But as per what I am now discovering is Restoration Norm, for one step forwards we take three steps back!
So a whole day was spent trying to get D22's box out of her. And she was not for having it. Progress is slower than expected but getting there. Advantage of starting with D22 is we can be slightly more brutal with the gearbox removal and try to understand how it is fixed in to assess what procedure we take with D23's removal - where angle grinding is not really an option!
So after lots of brute force (thanks John!), naughty words and plenty of angle grinding into some really obscure and difficult areas, she still wouldn't budge - 9 hours after starting.
Currently planning the next plan of attack.. But meantime, here's some photos ..... |

| While John was doing that, we started cutting pipes (for quickness as D22 was only in for temporary storage) |
