"A New Addition - D22 Arrives" |
|
| |
| Today was a big step forward for D23's restoration. A deal was struck with the owner of D22 to allow her to be brought to Bridgeton Garage to allow parts recovery to commence next to D23. Once complete, the vehicle would be collected for scrap from Bridgeton. This was a much easier solution than removing parts from D22 at the yard where she was kept and bring the spares to Bridgeton. Once again, many thanks to Dougie Arthur for his help and assistance in allowing this to happen. |
|
The day begain involving John Kennedy, Mark Budd and myself travelling to the yard to collect D22 and bring her to Bridgeton on what would be her last drive on public roads. Many thanks to Mark Budd for driving D22. |
| |
| D22 was actually withdrawn from service a few days earlier due to the straps holding the fuel tank corroding and the tank falling off the bus. So a temporary gravity feed fuel delivery system was assembled in the rear of the bus to allow her to be driven to Bridgeton. |

| Inside the shed, there was plenty of space for D22 as the annual open day the previous weekend ensured the workbays were clear. |

As a result of the previous open day, D23 had been backwalled for display purposes, so in the afternoon, manpower was searched out ready to move D23 from the backwall to the workbays... |

|
After some pushing, we reached an uphill gradient of the garage, which resulted in us failing to push D23 any further. So some additional help was required in the form of the garage shunter. |

At this point while D23 was in the middle of the garage, and D22 was still mobile, it was decided to arrange a short photo call of D22 and D23 parked next to each other. |

D22 was parked up back to back with D23 ready for parts recovery to begin. Now the two sisters were parked up next to each other for the first time in 8 months, work was ready to commence canniablising D22 for spares. |
