"Locating Dominators - Part 2"

Today, a trip was planned to follow up leads on a possible four surviving Dominators which were recorded as still surviving in the North of Scotland - Namely, D3, D6, D17 and D32. With no confirmed sighting in recent times, a handful of postcodes, and a Tom Tom sat nav, off I went to see what could be found, if anything.

Unfortunately, only one Dominator was located today - D3, which was found high up on a hill, in a farm off the main road between Mintlaw and Longside. Despite being from the earlier TYS---W batch, a lot of photographs were taken to aid with the restoration of my D23. The owner of the vehicle was not present, but an instructor at a motorcycle training school who was on site provided me a little background and a contact number which I could persue.

D3 is destined to be converted to a mobile home. Perfect - as the seats would slot straight into mine! D3 is also subject to a mechanical problem..... The gearbox is faulty.. Hmm... I see a pattern developing here!

As can be seen, D3 is actually in a very reasonable condition. As mentioned above, the current owner's plans for the vehicle are to convert it into a mobile home. Next, a few internal pictures which show again, an interior in very good condition if you ignore the missing or relocated seats!

All in all, an interesting day. Although only one Dominator was found, some useful information was gleemed from D3. This now brings the confirmed recent sightings of Central SMT Dominators today, to 3 (out of a possible 51!)
