"Cleaned Up And Screened Up" |
|
| |
| One week on since D23's arrival to Bridgeton and the first task was to assess the vehicle, and begin cleaning. The main focus today being cleaning up the front of the vehicle and removing all traces of the gaffer tape that was used to keep the Polythene protection over the broken window intact. Now that D23 was in dry undercover storage there was no need to cover the window. |

| With the ladders up, a quick inspection of the roof was able to take place, and it was a shock to see the roof was black! I later found out by talking to the previous owner that D23 was initally to be painted black, similar to sister D22, however a last minute change of plan saw this abandoned although not before the roof had been painted! |

| Once the front was cleaned, the destination blind was fitted, which is an actual East Kilbride Depot screen (Many thanks to John Kennedy for this!). This was duly fitted and added a vast improvement to the front of the bus. The numerical blinds have also been sourced and will be fitted at a later date. |

| Lastly, some literature was added to the side of the vehicle as a source of additional information for anybody looking at the bus. These are actually photocopies of the originals which will be stored away securely. The information is the actual Dennis Dominator chassis leaflet produced by Hestair Dennis, and the actual Alexander R publicity brochure from Walter Alexander & Sons Coachbuilders. The Dennis leaflet came via e-bay and the Alexander brochure from my own personal collection. |

| Lastly, A period advert was fitted to the inside lower deck, behind the staircase. The original was part of Mark Budd's collection and was scanned in and touched up in photoshop, before being printed off. The actual result looks fantastic, and the final will be printed off on Glossy paper. For the meantime, the draft print adores the interior. |
