Welcome to my website, which is dedicated to documenting the restoration of FGE423X, a 1982 Dennis Dominator double decker bus which was new to Central SMT, based in Lanarkshire, Scotland.

FGE423X, or D23 as she was numbered, ran in public service for 24 years from depots in Motherwell, Airdrie, East Kilbride and Old Kilpatrick on both suburban routes and routes into Glasgow City Centre. She then passed to an operator based in Gauldry, Fife and afterwards she passed to an operator in Coatbridge, Lanarkshire where she saw out her days as a School Bus. She was taken out of public service in 2006 and I purchased her in 2007 for restoration. D23 is the only Scottish Dennis Dominator in preservation.

This website aims to document the Dennis Dominator as a whole, drill down into more depth with Central's own fleet of Dominators, then concentrate on the restoration of D23 from start to finish.

I have no previous experience of restoring an old bus, so hopefully visitors who are new to this hobby will find this interesting and informative (and those who are experts can correct and advise me!)
